Mission, Vision, and Values
The Texas Association of College and University
Police Administrators shares the broad purpose of all member
institutions of higher learning for the discovery, preservation, and
transmission of knowledge through teaching, research, and public service. Within
this purpose, the Association recognizes an obligation of service to the people
and needs of the Colleges and Universities within the state of Texas. TACUPA is committed to enhancing the quality of the educational experience
and adopts the following vision, mission and values toward fulfillment of this
objective.
To provide the highest quality campus law
enforcement and public safety education, training, and services to the member
institutions of the Texas Association of College and University Police Administrators and their respective communities consistent with Law and
recognized professional standards within the broad context of the policies
established by the Board of Directors and the approved budget.
The mission of the Texas Association of College
and University Police Administrators is to educate, train,
and serve the members of the Association, and to improve the quality of the
educational experience by building relationships to maintain order, resolve
problems, and enhance personal and property safety in a manner consistent with
law and our shared mission and goals.
Values
PROTECTION of human life and property through adherence to the principles of modern law enforcement and public safety practices;
ORGANIZATIONAL development to maintain standards of proficiency and improve our services to the community;
LEADERSHIP in building and development of problem-solving partnerships and strategies to serve the students, faculties, and staffs of our institutions and our communities at large;
INTEGRITY in word, thought, and deed in all of our dealings with the public;
COMMITMENT to meeting the needs of our institutional communities by maintaining relationships necessary to enhance the quality of the educational environment;
ETHICAL conduct under the precepts of the law enforcement Code of Ethics in all of our interactions with the public and each other.
